Dec. 14, 2020 --
Heights High is proud to announce that its Automotive Technology Program is now sponsored by the Ford Motor Company and Liberty Ford Maple Heights. This sponsorship allows Heights students to take advantage of Ford’s Automotive Career Exploration program, which provides training and certification for students in both high school and post-secondary programs. Heights High is the lead convener of the Career Tech Consortium through which high school students can enroll in highly specialized courses offered by the following high schools: Bedford Heights High School, Maple Heights High School, Shaker Heights High School, and Warrensville Heights High School.
Last March, just one week prior to school closures, automotive tech students completed over 150 combined training modules, earning certificates in Shop Safety, Vehicle Brake Systems, Advanced Brake Systems, and Steering Systems Theory and Operations, among others. These certifications are all transferable should students choose to pursue a career with Ford. Jeff Porter, who runs the automotive program at Heights High, is “thankful to the school district for offering this opportunity to our students and community.”
